Heat Wave

I refuse to say "It's Hot Don!" But, It is really hot here.  REALLY hot.  Thankfully, we had VBS to keep us indoors and happy last week.  I had the  privilege of having the 3 and 4 year olds.  Yes, they have short attention spans and tons of energy but they love every thing you do for them and are not yet "too cool" to enjoy themselves. (these photos courtesy of FBC facebook page)

Here they are learning about the 12 stones the Israelites took from the Jordan River when God parted it so they could cross. (Not to be confused with parting the Red Sea with Moses.)

Hope was thrilled to have her cousin Susanna with her this year.

Will was kept by 2 lovely ladies all week.  He had a great time also and was even sent home with homework to do :)

Our little crew learning about when Mary Magdalene found the tomb empty.

Our theme was Amazing Wonders Aviation.  Here's Hope in her aviation goggles.

When we weren't indoors with VBS we were finding ways to be wet.  Wilbur loves being wet.  Speaking of ol' Will, he turned 8 months during all the VBS madness.  He's marking lots of milestones.  Loves to stand up.  Wants to crawl, but really would rather walk.  He loves being outside, he loves Holiday World, water, and other children.  He is starting to show a little separation anxiety.  His favorite toys are still the pig rattle, things that make noise and now books.  He loves to swing and likes slides, too.

Hope in her goggles.  See... 3 year olds are not too cool to enjoy themselves!  I update monthly about Will's development, but not so much Hope.  So here's Hope:  She recently chewed her first piece of bubble gum: Big League Chew.  The rules are no running or jumping with gum so if you see her doing that, have her spit out that gum!  She plays in almost all imagination games.  Her imaginary friend is named "Sister."  She also loves water and Holiday World.  She loves to be a helper and follows dad around almost constantly if he is here at home.  She throws a Frisbee like a champ and is learning to recognize a few sight words.  She loves to pick out "chapter books" at the library and Beverly Cleary is her favorite author.  We still read story books and her favorite of those is....probably still Dora.  She loves Netflix and often manipulates her sitters into watching hours and hours of it.

And she blows bubbles well in water.

Dad has never been too cool to enjoy himself.

And did you know that we live next door to the bad kid from Toy Story all grown up?  He still likes to blow things up but does it on a much grander scale.  There is no telling how much money people blow on fireworks.  I'm a tight wad, I know, but still... people get a grip.  Our neighbor knocked on our door one night in the middle of this heat wave/drought and wanted to "invite us to his show" aka warn us that we might want to water our yard like he was because there was going to be some explosions going on.  It was quite impressive.  Only one man threatened to call the police.  Our neighbor's response "Do what ya gotta do."  Classy neighborhood we live in, eh?

Happy Fourth of July!
